I lost one of my purebred Landrace gilts today. i am thinking it had pneaumonia i administired vaccines and a steriod for 4 days and ended up losing it this morning. Now the problem is one of my cross gilts won't eat and wasnt very active today. Could she possibly be getting pneaumonia from this goofy weather lately or is it something else??? 8O

Respiratory disease is possible. You should have a necropsy done on the dead hog to find out what caused its demise.

she did have a cough so that is a good possibility. she was about 75lbs when she died right before she died her stomach turned purple and her veins were showing. the cross looks to be doing better she ate this morning and is alot more active i administered penicillin and steriods this morning :?

If its respiratory then Excede and Draxxin is where I would start. If its not you haven't hurt any thing. Good Luck.
