Greenwood, Mississippi, is the home of Team Purebred’s Mid-South Regional, but it’s known to the rest of the United States as the county seat of Leflore County which is nestled on the Eastern Delta, sandwiched between Memphis and Jackson.

If you’re heading to the Mid-South Regional, be sure to check out these great spots in Greenwood – beyond the barn.

The Crystal Grill: This family-owned spot gives their spin on classic Southern Classics. Named the go-to spot by TripAdvisor.com, the restaurant has also been featured by Southern Living magazine, Food Network and “Best Desserts” on TBS.

Delta Bistropub: If you’re looking for a fairly quick meal with a unique twist, then this is the spot for you. This restaurant, in the middle of the restored downtown district, melds together modern art and Southern traditions from its architecture to its decorations and definitely in its menu.

The Legend of Robert Johnson: If you don’t know of Robert Johnson, think of him as the grandfather of rock n’ roll. His Delta blues inspired artists such as Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones. Once a less than mediocre guitar picker, he suddenly emerged with his famous driving beats. The legend goes he sold his soul to the devil on a Mississippi crossroads to play the blues, but the devil always gets his due. Johnson died after being poisoned in this town, and is told to be buried at one of its churches.

Museum of the Mississippi Delta: If swapping ghost stories had you wanting to learn more about the Delta, visit the Museum of the Mississippi Delta. From swamps to Southern belles and from arrowheads to agriculture, learn all about the colorful past of the river delta.

Turn Row Books: Before you leave town, you might want a souvenir.  Why not pick up a book at the charming Turn Row Books? This independent, locally-owned book store is a favorite among natives and visitors alike. Many of the books are signed by authors who often stop by the shop, and if you’re hungry grab a sandwich and coffee that you can enjoy on their screen porch.

We hope you have a great time in Greenwood and enjoy making memories with your friends and family both in and beyond the barn.
