We had a sow who gave birth to 15 piglets. One was stillborn. She crushed 5. The smallest one was not getting enough to eat. We started him on Birthright supplement. He stayed with a neighbor at 2.5 weeks old, while we had to go out of town. The neighbor mixed molasses with the formula. The piglet died the next morning. Did the molasses have anything to do with the piglet's death?
Why did he die? Coughing? Diarrhea? How much molasses? Lots of factors but possible if he got horrible diarrhea from it, but out usually takes a day our two. Was his joints swollen? I would suspect sepsis due to poor colostrum intake. My 2 cents
